As the green building consultant for PT Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk (WIKA Beton), PT DEX Solusi Transit guided the evaluation and certification of WIKA Beton’s Prestressed Concrete (PC) Spun Piles under the Green Building Council Indonesia’s (GBCI) Greenship Solution Endorsement (GSE) – Embodied Carbon rating system. Centered at Plant 8 (Jalur 8 PPB) in Cileungsi, Bogor, the project established a comprehensive environmental footprint analysis for PC Spun Piles ranging from 300 mm to 1,200 mm in diameter. The primary goal of our consultancy engagement was to navigate the GSE framework, quantify upfront embodied carbon, verify low-impact material performance, and map out a structured decarbonization pathway toward net-zero precast concrete manufacturing.
To build a transparent baseline for the GSE framework, PT Life Cycle Indonesia was engaged as the dedicated LCA practitioner to conduct the technical environmental assessment. PT Life Cycle Indonesia executed a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) covering Cradle-to-Gate production (Modules A1–A3) as well as End-of-Life scenarios (C1–C4 and Module D) in strict compliance with EN 15804+A2 and ISO 14025 standards. Based on this assessment, PT Life Cycle Indonesia developed the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), which was independently verified and officially registered under the International EPD System (EPD Southeast Asia, Registration No. S-P-13859). PT Life Cycle Indonesia's hotspot analysis identified raw material inputs—specifically Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and rebar—as the dominant embodied carbon drivers, establishing clear, data-backed targets for intervention.
Leveraging the precise LCA data provided by PT Life Cycle Indonesia, DEX collaborated closely with WIKA Beton management to formulate a multi-year Target Setting and Implementation (TSI) decarbonization roadmap. Key core-process interventions planned and evaluated include the installation of a 440 kWp rooftop solar photovoltaic (PLTS) system on Plant 8—designed to cover up to 65% of the plant's operational electricity demand—alongside a complete transition to energy-efficient LED lighting. On the material side, the strategic roadmap integrates Cold Concrete technology to optimize mix efficiency and cement consumption, progressively increases Fly Ash replacement in Portland Composite Cement (PCC) up to 20%, and substitutes natural river sand with up to 80% Manufactured Sand (M-Sand) to significantly reduce transport and raw material impacts.
Through DEX’s strategic advisory and certification management, seamlessly supported by PT Life Cycle Indonesia's robust LCA and EPD documentation, the WIKA Beton PC Spun Pile claim achieved 36 out of 42 maximum points (85.7%) across the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental Impact Benchmark (EIB), and Target Setting & Implementation (TSI) categories. Surpassing the 32-point threshold required for the top tier, the product successfully qualified for the prestigious Platinum Rating under the Greenship Solution Endorsement framework, reinforcing WIKA Beton’s market leadership in sustainable structural solutions.
